About Us

Theatre al Dente is a Greater Victoria musical theatre company offering camps, classes, performances, and community events. Guided by the tagline “Staging Stories, Sharing Songs, Building Community,” Theatre al Dente provides opportunities for performers and crew members of all ages and experience levels to train, create, and participate in musical theatre classes, shows, and performances.

 

Theatre al Dente produces two mainstage shows each year, as well as several smaller scale productions in our space on Esquimalt Road in Victoria. These productions give performers and crew members the chance to work on large-scale musicals, and offer local audiences accessible, high-quality, productions.

Theatre al Dente is intentionally inclusive and welcomes people regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, background, or prior experience. The company is not bound by traditional theatre norms around who “belongs” onstage or in rehearsal spaces. Instead, we prioritize creating an environment where people feel safe to take creative risks, learn openly, and express themselves without fear of judgment.

Our education programming includes youth-focused camps (including Pro-D day camps and spring break camps), as well as events such as karaoke nights and tabletop roleplaying sessions.

 

Activities are based out of the Theatre al Dente space at 907 Esquimalt Road in Victoria.  Across all activities, the emphasis is on access, creativity, and building genuine community through shared storytelling and music.
